Dave Almarinez, an ambitious, intellectual entrepreneur, a passionate leader, achieved what most of his peers find impossible. He was a public servant, a philanthropist and all these he achieved just before he hit 35. He is a striking figure with full of dynamism and whose magnetism you can’t resist.
A native of Binan Laguna, Dave was born in 1974. He was the son of Saturnina and Teodoro who ran a goods store. Dave has one sibling, his older sister, Geraldine.
As a boy, he would hear his parents preparing to leave in the wee hours of the morning to sell goods in the market and he’d jump up to join them. He also saw how his mother carefully managed their finances to make ends meet. He remembers well that money was always readily available whenever they need them.
EDUCATION, EARLY WORK AND SUCCESS
He’s a Scholar at Far Eastern University where he majored in Political Science. Upon graduating, Dave was able to work briefly in Singapore. He then moved to Malaysia to work as Senior Consultant, managing local employees. After a few years working abroad, the turning point of his life would come when he lost his passport.
He came down to Singapore visiting a friend Rodelio when he misplaced his passport! A Singaporean named Chris found his passport, called him up and arranged to meet him. His newfound friend then introduced to him the beauty of business. This would forever change his life.
Imbued with determination to make good and an entrepreneurial nature, Dave resigned from his post as Senior Consultant and dabbled in business. Have Masters in Applied Business Economics from the University of Asia and Pacific and also attended Harvard Business School’s Global Strategic Management. He has his fair share of rejections and apprehensions from people even his own mother who believed that he shouldn’t have thrown away the good job he has abroad. Yet his persistence and hard work would soon pay off and proved the unbelievers wrong. He bought his first car, a BMW and parked it in front of the modest home of his parents. His mother was taken by surprise but very proud of her son’s success and later said “I’m glad you quit your job.” Dave became a Master Distributor for NSP-Synergy Worldwide then worked his way up to become a Managing Director of Agel Enterprises. Currently, he is the President of Drink ACT Southeast Asia Region, a division of Youngevity Life Sciences, a publicly listed company.
As a global leader in Direct Marketing Business, Dave imparts his knowledge and skills through various local & International engagements. He motivates and mentors people on how to hone their leadership skills, their ability to plan strategically and to expand their network. Since globalization is forcing broad and deep changes in human relationships as well as organizations are being challenged to achieve greater results, companies seek out for him because Dave helps them to reach the best results from practical processes bolstered with business dynamics such as leadership, marketing, operations and expansion. Through Dave, aspiring entrepreneurs and organizations alike can have an opportunity to achieve an unmatched competitive advantage in the world marketplace.
He also ventured out in politics to do a little more something good in the society. In 2007, he ran for Provincial Board Member in Laguna, Philippines. His constituents believed in his political causes and sincerity that he won and ranked number 1 of which whom he served.
When super typhoons like Ondoy and Sendong hit the Philippines, Dave was one of the most active and high profile people mobilizing relief efforts. For his other philanthropic efforts, he gives opportunities to people who wanted to finish their studies but couldn’t fund their education. He has about 2,000 scholars and to date more than 800 students have graduated from his scholarship program. He also provides health assistance to those who can’t afford them, offers jobs to those who seek & give opportunities for those who have none.
Dave has been honored twice with Asia Pacific Young Professional Award for Entrepreneurship in 2004 and 2005. He also received Consumer’s Choice Young Professional Award for Business & Professional and Dangal ng Pilipinas Award.
Dave is a highly accomplished man. He has everything any man could want: an education from Harvard, a successful business, driving a luxury car, travelling around the world and a happy family. His humble beginnings didn’t hinder him to dream big and aim high. He also served in a public office because he believed he could reach out and help more people from poverty this way. His energy, passion and positivity are being directed to bring change for the common good. His works have been exemplified by different award giving bodies. He wanted to serve as an inspiration to people that anyone can rise above from challenges as long as they will work hard and believe in themselves. The values he has learned from his parents such as humility, respect, determination and doing what is right are his guiding principles in life and in essence his recipe for success.
